Crafting Your Resume

When crafting your resume for software engineering roles, your goal is to create a document which can optimally pass resume screening for both of the following:

1. an automated Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
2. a human recruiter or hiring manager

While there is variability and subjectivity in the resume screening process, all of the advice in the following sections are provided with one or both of the above standards in mind. Our methods are certainly not fool-proof and there are many ways exceptions may manifest; however, the advice in the following sections can be considered as general best practice, and are observed to be successful when applied to the hundreds and thousands of applications potentially submitted by a student or entry level software engineer looking for a role.
